Public Review Period of the Draft Environmental Assessment Report Now Open
On August 8, 2025, Webequie First Nation launched the 60-day public review period for the draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement (EAR/IS) for the proposed Webequie Supply Road. This is a major milestone in a First Nation-led project that has been shaped by years of study, consultation, and input from Indigenous communities and the public.
The draft EAR/IS is one of the most comprehensive, robust environmental studies ever conducted in the region, guided by Webequie’s Three-Tier Consultation Model. This Three-Tier Consultation Model is consistent with Webequie’s traditional cultural values, customs and beliefs, ensuring that environmental, cultural, and socio-economic impacts are properly assessed. In following this approach, the draft EAR/IS outlines how the proposed 107-kilometre, all-season road could impact land, water, wildlife, and people; and lays out clear actions and solutions to mitigate and monitor these effects. We invite all members of the public to read the draft report and provide feedback before October 6, 2025.
