FAQs
What is the Draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement?
The Webequie Supply Road needs to meet both provincial and federal requirements prior to obtaining approval to build the road. The Draft Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement was prepared to meet the intent of both the federal Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines and provincial Terms of Reference for the required Environment Assessment / Impact Assessment.
The Draft Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement documents the evaluation of alternative routes considered for the Webequie Supply Road and presents the Preferred Route. It also documents the potential environmental, social, cultural and health impacts including cumulative effects, , proposed mitigation measures, and engagement and consultation undertaken so far.
What is not included in the Draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement?
At this time, the Draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement does not include the draft Record of Consultation and Engagement with Indigenous communities, the public and stakeholders. This will be provided to Indigenous communities when the Draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement is released for public and stakeholder review (August 8, 2025). In the meantime, consultation and engagement activities and feedback we received from Indigenous communities are documented in the Consultation Progress Reports on the project website here: INSERT LINK
Why is it important to provide your comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement Report?
We are providing a Draft Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement to Indigenous communities, the public and regulators to allow for review and feedback on the information, approach, and findings on the assessment of the Project. Your input on the Draft Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement provides an opportunity for your voice to be heard. Your comments on the Draft will help us prepare the Final Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement that will incorporate your input and consider concerns related to the proposed Webequie Supply Road.
The Final Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement will be submitted by Webequie First Nation to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada for a decision by the Minister and Cabinet. It is important that communities participate in the consultation opportunities for the Draft Environmental Assessment / Impact Statement, so that their input can be considered or addressed in the final version of the document.
How long do I have to review the Draft EAR / IS?
Indigenous communities that we have been engaging with will have early access to the Draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement. Indigenous communities have 120 days to review and provide comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment Report / Impact Statement.
